NYC
CM Jed Sloan
Jed is a senior at Stuyvesant High School and is a USCF National Master, FIDE Candidate Master, and 2 times scholastic Grade National Champion. He is also the co-captain of the Stuyvesant Chess Team and an experienced chess tutor and ski racing coach. Outside of chess, Jed is a starter for the Stuyvesant Varsity Tennis Team and a member of the Stuyvesant Math Team and Math Modeling Club.
Jordy Leon
Jordy Leon is currently attending Stuyvesant High School. He enjoys helping people whenever possible. He has been playing chess for 9 years. He has been as high as 11th place in national tournaments. He also a member of the Stuyvesant Soccer and Math teams.
FM Aditeya Das
Aditeya Das (“Adi”) is a freshman at Stuyvesant High School and a FIDE Master (FM) in chess, a game he has loved since second grade. He is a two-time US Chess Grade Nationals gold medalist (7th and 9th grade). For multiple years, Adi has been consistently ranked among the top five players in the nation for his age group, as published by US Chess.
Lucas Moina
Lucas Moina is a freshman at Hunter College High School. He has been playing chess competitively for 7 years. Lucas was part of the team winning 2025 K-8 championships. Outside of chess Lucas loves to play soccer and is fascinated with geography.
Nathan Peyton
Nathan Peyton is a freshman at Brooklyn Technical High School. He has consistently been ranked as a top 100 chess player in the United States for his age since he began playing in kindergarten. His peak USCF and FIDE ratings are 2058 and 1958, respectively. Outside of chess, Nathan enjoys playing basketball and flag football recreationally.
Lucien Jaccon
Lucien Jaccon is a sophomore at Hunter College High School. He has a peak USCF rating of 1699 and began playing chess competitively during COVID. He has competed on school teams that achieved top 5 placements in national events. Outside of chess, he enjoys running, playing with his cat, and learning math.
Kevin Stern
Kevin Stern is a 9th grader at the Dalton School. His major chess achievement includes winning the United States Amateur Team East tournament (USATE). He is extremely passionate about the game and has teaching experience. Outside of chess, Kevin likes to play basketball and saxophone.
Lucas Fugate
Lucas is a student at Hunter College High School, and has been playing chess for the past few years. He has reached a peak rating of 2350 on Chess.com, and have been part of high finishes for their school team. Outside of chess, they pursue robotics, basketball, economics, and track.
Christian Bartolini
Christian Bartolini is a rising 9th grader at Hunter College High School. His peak USCF rating is 1721, and he has been playing chess since the age of 6. He has been a member of several national championship-winning chess teams. Some of his favorite hobbies include soccer and volleyball.
Sarah Irene
Sarah is a student at Gustave Flaubert in Tunisia and the president of their chess club, where she mentors 30+ kids and has hosted two tournaments. She organized the first-ever Harvard Tunisia high school chess match, promoting it on national TV (Faza) to 400,000+ viewers. Beyond the board, she founded an ecological nonprofit operating across four schools.
Riju Bhattacharjee
Riju is a sophomore at Brooklyn Technical High School. He has been playing chess ever since he was eight and has achieved a peak of around 1800 USCF. Outside of chess, Riju enjoys hanging out with friends and is an avid member of the Brooklyn Tech math team.
Dylan Shlachter
Dylan is a sophomore at Brooklyn Technical high school. He has played chess ever since he was 5 years old. He also enjoys playing guitar, reading, and golfing in his free time. He is very excited to continue to teach kids in playing chess and help teach the future of chess.
Sara Gupta
Sara is a senior at the Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. Since the age of 5, she’s been playing chess competitively and has won gold at the Pan- American & North American championships. Outside of chess, she enjoys orchestra, taking care of animals and Model UN.
Fiona Tushman
Fiona is a freshman at Hunter College High School. She has been playing chess competitively for over 8 years. She is currently ranked 33rd in girls aged 14 in the world. Her other interests involve reading, math, and soccer on her school team.
Nikhil Shah
Nikhil is a sophomore at Brooklyn Technical High School who has been playing chess for over 12 years. He has a peak rating of 1858 and has place 13th at supernationals in the u1900. Outside of chess Nikhil enjoys playing badminton and tennis.
Rohan Lee
Rohan Lee is a freshman at Brooklyn Technical High School. He is a USCF Candidate Master with a peak rating of 2152 USCF and 2046 FIDE respectively. He is also currently ranked in the top 35 for his age in the US. Outside of chess, he likes to do art and play sports like soccer, basketball, cross country, and tennis.
Gavin Liu
Gavin is a current sophomore at High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology who started playing at the age of 8, with a peak USCF rating of 1928, who’s main goal is to reach 2000 USCF. He is also part of the Chess-in-the-schools program as a tournament assistant.

Seojin Park is a rising 9th grader at Hunter College High School. He has been playing competitive chess for nearly three years and has a peak USCF rating of 1662. Outside of chess, they participate in junior orchestra, practice Taekwondo, and enjoy playing badminton.
David Gelpi
David Gelpi is a senior at Columbia Secondary School. In his free time, he likes playing soccer and video games. Recently he’s hit a peak rating of 2270 on Chess.com. He’s particularly interested in pursuing computer science in college.
Naveen Paruchuri
Naveen is an 11th grader at Avenues. He is a strong chess player who leads his Avenues Chess Club and is the captain for his K-12 chess team. He also tutors students in his building looking to learn chess. He is a great person to be around always full of joy.
Anderson Woo
Anderson Woo is currently attending CGPS. He started playing chess seriously in the 6th grade and now has a rating of over 1800. He has been on numerous teams that have placed in the Top 3 at the National Chess Championships. Besides chess, Anderson also enjoys playing tennis and the clarinet.
Owen Morrow
Owen Morrow is a freshman at Hunter College High School. He has been playing chess for almost 6 years and has participated in many tournaments. His school team has won first place in numerous national events. Outside of the world of chess, he loves playing tennis and swimming. In his free time, he reads and plays chess.

Arhan Javeri is a freshman at Columbia Prep School. He has a peak USCF rating of 2023 and has been playing chess since the age of 7. He has placed in the top 15 at multiple national tournaments. he also plays tennis and baseball in school.

Nicholas Bear is a high school sophomore at Trinity School, who has been playing chess for 9 years. He has achieved a peak rating of 1841 USCF. Outside of chess, Nicholas plays competitive tennis and enjoys researching politics, foreign affairs, and learning new languages.

Ryan is a chess and soccer player, and a co-founder of the chess club at Bard High School Early College Bronx. Ryan is a tournament director for Chess in the Schools. He also likes to stay active and loves to hangout with others!

Oliver Chung is an experienced player from Brooklyn Tech. Oliver has been playing chess since 2018. Oliver teaches by learning a student’s personality and translating it into their play style while keeping everything simple, fun, and effective.

Alexi is a senior at Brooklyn Technical High School who has played chess for over a decade. His is the Vice-President of BTHS’s Chess Team, where he has captained three team victories at the NYS Scholastic High School Championships. Outside of chess, he enjoys soccer with his school team and serves as captain of his club team.
Bryson Wolf
Bryson is a rising 9th grader at Hunter High School. He has helped lead his Hunter chess team to win six nationals. Bryson started playing when he was 6 years old. In his free time, he plays travel baseball and school soccer.
WIM Chloe Gaw
Chloe Gaw is a Woman International Master with a peak USCF rating of 2283. She won Gold in her section in the 2023 Pan-American Youth Chess Festival and is a two-time winner of the All-Girls National Chess Championship. Perhaps her coolest achievement is being the only player to win their game against GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in a simul in 2022
Arko Chakrabartiroy
Arko Chakrabartiroy is an incoming mathematics student at New York University and a recent graduate of Stuyvesant High School. A competitive chess player with a peak USCF rating of over 1900, he enjoys sharing his passion for the game by helping students build both confidence and strategic thinking. Outside of chess, Arko enjoys playing piano and violin, practicing taekwondo, and exploring mathematics and computer science.
Lance Wolf
Lance Wolf is a freshman at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School. He has been playing chess for around 10 years now and loves the game. Back in May of 2025, he placed 9th overall in the under 1400 section at SuperNationals. He also enjoys playing baseball and football.

Emily is a senior at Hunter College High School, where she has been part of many award-winning teams. She started playing chess in elementary school, and she enjoys painting and drawing in her free time.
Will Nieder
Will is a 9th grader at the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering. He has won numerous awards and medals at national competitions, including 5th place at Grade Nationals. He has played chess for over 6 years, reaching a peak rating of 1938. He has consistently placed on the top 100 USCF pages for his age. Outside of chess, Will enjoys running and coding.
WCM Arabella Fang
Arabella is a rising freshman at Hunter College High School, and is a Woman Candidate Master. Just this past spring, she tied for 2nd place at the 2026 National Middle School Championship, and has been part of multiple national champion teams.
Aiden Teitelman
Aiden Teitelman is a rising senior attending CGPS. He is a USCF expert chess player and of his best chess achievements include multiple national team championships in 2024, 2025, and 2026, as well as Blitz titles in 2024 & 2025. Aiden has also earned both individual and class awards at national events. He is bilingual in Spanish, and he also enjoys gaming, coding, and skiing.
Maxime Jaccon
Maxime Jaccon is a sophomore at Hunter College High School. He has been playing chess competitively since COVID. His other interests include swimming, math and coding.
Aarush Bandreddi
Aarush Bandreddi is a rising 9th grader at the Trinity School, and he has a peak USCF rating of 1826. He has been playing since he was 6 years old, and has been to countless tournaments. When he attended Speyer in middle school, he was on many 1st place teams in national tournaments. Outside of chess, he loves to play tennis and the violin.
Affan Bhimani
Affan is a university student studying at Ivey Business School in Canada. He picked up chess in the height of the pandemic, and has loved playing chess since then, reaching a chess.com rating of 1700. Outside of chess, he loves playing recreational basketball, tennis and listening to music.
Nicholas Frederick Beirne
Nick is a tutor based in Manhattan who attends the High School for Math, Science and Engineering. Although he’s only been playing chess with a real interest to improve for 4 years, he’s reached a peak rating of 1813 USCF. He is also a tennis player and pianist, and his prior experience tutoring kids in middle schools has led me to enjoy tutoring, and he’s excited to help you!
Hana Carlson
Hana, a rising junior at Brearley, has been playing chess since kindergarten. She’s gradually become more relaxed when it has come to playing in official tournaments, but looks forward to doing more during the school year. When she was in second grade, she got second place in Girl's Nationals. She enjoys reading (and writing!) high fantasy books. She plays piano, sings, and debates.
Aritro Chakravarty
Aritro is a senior at Stuyvesant High School. He is a USCF National Master who has been playing chess competitively since Elementary School. Aritro has placed in the Top 5 in the NY State Open (2023), NY State Scholastic championships (2022), and placed third in the US National Online Scholastic K-8 Championship. He is currently in the Top 40 players nationally in his age group.
Simone Morden
Simone, a senior at Stuyvesant High School, has been playing chess since Kindergarten. She attended the World Cadet Chess Championship in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 2018 as part of the US Chess Federation Team. Besides chess, she likes to do TaeKwonDo and cook.
Amy Burton
Amy, a junior at Hunter College High School, has been playing chess casually since she was around three years old, with a break around the ages of 8-12. Although she’s not particularly high rated, she has a lot of experience with chess tournaments and the rules of the game. She especially love solving chess puzzles that involve situations rarely found in games, because the solutions always feel so creative!
Nick Marchese
Nick is a senior at Stuyvesant High School and has contributed to the school chess team at both the state and national levels. He is passionate about the game and deeply values the chance to teach others. Outside of chess, he plays varsity baseball and enjoys working out with friends.
Aliya Saldanha-Suri
Aliya Saldanha-Suri is a student at The Bronx High School of Science. She has been playing chess for 10 years and has a peak rating of 1693. Aliya has participated in many tournaments, including winning the 2017 NYS Scholastic Championships and 5th place at Supernationals VI (in her sections). Aliya has a passion for mentoring and is excited to share her love of chess. Apart from chess, Aliya also enjoys art and playing the piano.
Rania Awad
Rania has taught chess for the past three years, training over 100 students from pre-K to seventh grade. She also guides her peers as a captain of her school’s chess team. As a female chess player ranked in the top 30 nationally for girls her age, she is passionate about fostering growth in women’s chess. When she’s not playing chess, you will find her drawing or learning a new song on the piano.

Dan, a junior at The Calhoun School, has been playing chess pretty much his whole life, with his first ever experience with chess being at 4 years old. He played a ton of chess throughout the early years of his life, before slowing down during the pandemic. Nowadays, he mainly only plays big tournaments with his friends, while also focusing on tutoring.

Maxwell is a sophomore at Harvard University, and a US Chess expert, with a peak rating of 2007. He is a graduate of the Dalton School, where he competed successfully in many scholastic events. He also likes to play basketball, lacrosse, and percussion.
Jenny Zhu
Jenny is a sophomore at Harvard University. She was recently ranked number 4 nationally for female chess players aged 16 with a peak rating of 2106. She has extensive experience in teaching young kids and loves sharing her knowledge.

Krish is a freshman at the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. He won 3rd place at the 2023 Pan-American U16 section and is currently a FIDE Candidate Master.

Max is a student at UChicago. Some of his chess achievements include being on the National High School Championship winning Dalton team in 2022 and 2023, 4th place in the 2023 National High School Blitz Championship, and finishing 5th place with his team in the 2023 Amateur Team East. His peak USCF rating is 2149, and he’s currently working towards the National Master title. Outside of chess, he plays the piano and likes to write short stories and run in his free time.
Dazhen (Jeff) Lu
Jeff started playing chess when he was 6, and since then, it’s been a big part of his life. He is on his school team and has won various team and individual achievements at the national level. Some of his individual awards include the second place class prize at the 2023 High School Nationals. Other than chess, his hobbies include piano and history. Next year, he’ll be attending Cornell University.
Boris McCoy
Boris is a rising freshman at Brown University, where he is joining the 8-year Program in Liberal Medical Education. He was on the chess team at Hunter College High School and has played tournament chess since second grade, achieving a rating above 1800 USCF. He played on his school’s soccer team, loves to read books, and is a passionate language learner.
Siddharth Ganti-Agrawal
Sid is a rising freshman studying engineering at Carnegie Mellon, and a graduate of Hunter College High School. He has been playing chess since elementary school with a peak rating of 1834. At Hunter, he was part of state and national championship winning teams. Aside from chess, he also loves running track and field and cross country, and playing and watching sports.
